Remove Bloatware From International Galaxy Note GT-N7000

April 10, 2012 by: 0

Despite all the criticism concerning its one-size-fits-none kind factor, Samsung has sold over five million units of the phone-plus-tablet Galaxy Note. Almost everything concerning the device has controversy surrounding it, whether or not it is the large 5.3” 720p Super AMOLED HD display or the inclusion of a capacitive stylus; it is really a like it or hate it kind of thing.

Anyhow, when five months within the market, the Galaxy Note is seeing a lot of support from the Android developer community. When being rooted, there’s work being done on bringing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to it and cooking new ROMs with unique options.

Now, a developer by the name of goddamnit over on XDA-Developers has created a script that permits users to selectively take away pre-included apps and different bloatware from the International Version of the Galaxy Note. Removing bloatware are a few things all enthusiasts like to do for improved performance, therefore if you’re one in all those types, check a basic list of directions when the jump!

The news comes straight from a thread posted by goddamnit on XDA-Developers’ Galaxy Note forum during which he discusses his script and the way to get it functioning on your device.

The list of directions given by the developer are to a small degree confusing that makes things look complicated, however the tactic remains, of course, easier than having to manually remove each piece of bloatware yourself.

The gist of it’s this: you run a lite-rom_creator.exe, choose apps to get rid of, export the customized script within the kind of a .txt file, place it on your device’s SD card, launch a terminal app on your device and then choose the .txt file from there. The script can then run and take away selected bloatware. You can then get pleasure from a better-performing Galaxy Note (due to less bloatware) when a reboot.

Lite ROM Creator script works only on Windows, therefore those of you on alternative operating systems can either have to wait for somebody to port it to your OS or you can always use virtualization software such as VirtualBox!

Bloatware on any device is a huge turn off for anyone, even me. In fact, the 1st thing we tend to do before we get our hands on a brand new device is remove all the unnecessary apps that we believe are either useless or are simply eating away those precious megabytes from our device in hand.

For the list of the instructions and any queries, check out the official thread over on XDA-Developers.
